Life lesson

September 15, 2011

I recently went on a trip to Spain for an event called World Youth Day.  It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.  I was swamped by people who couldn’t speak my language nor I speak theirs.  The entire trip left me with a few simple rules to add to the list to live by:

1: Never underestimate the good in people.  While I was there, I saw kindness that  shocked me, people reaching out to help strangers who traveled thousands of miles for a single event.

2:  Always do the most to help.  It is very hot in Spain. On the day before we had mass with the pope, everyone (being roughly two MILLION people) flocked to an air feild.  With the heat and cramped conditions, people were overheating everywhere.  I happened to have a few ice packs on me.  I gave them to two girls who had passed out from heat exaustion.  I stayed and helped them until the ambulance came.  Always do what you can.  We are all human and all need help.

3.  This one I learned in Lourdes, France.  A group of elderly people were staying in my hotel, I got in late one night to hear the sound of piano music coming from the parlor.  I walked in to find a seventy year old man playing a slow foxtrot and the elderly couples dancing.  One of the ladies spotted me, and after talking for a while I asked her if she would like to dance.  The rest of that night was spent dancing withaout a care in the world.  As I danced, one of the ladies looked at me and said, “You know, there aren’t eanough nice young men like you around.”  This surprised me alittle bit and I asked her what she mean’t.

”Most young people would never ask an old lady like me to dance, they’d tell us to shut up and leave!  we need more men like you who know how to dance.”  I will never forget that night, or getting up at three A.M. the next day to catch an international flight home.  The rule that I took from this is simple.  Dance whenever you get the chance.  I don’t mean that bumping and grinding you see in clubs, I mean a waltz, foxtrot, or even Polka dance.  These dances are truely beautiful and should not be allowed to die because of sex-crazed teens and their ignorance.

These simple rules can help you live a wonderful life, take what you will from them.  Its your life, so start living it.

rember me?

April 8, 2010

ok, this is my first post in a long time, but here is a peice of advice, life is not about what others think of you, its about what you think of yourself. You are in charge of your own life, no one can tell you different, so live life the way you want to live it, hope for the best, and plan for the worst.

my big idea

March 12, 2009

Ok people of where ever, I have an idea that I’m going to try.  Starting April first, every day for the month of April ( or at least however long I remember), i am going to write a story on that day and put it in one book.  I really want to try this, I’ll prabably get bored halfway through and start throwing in riddles and bits of poetry.  It will be very interesting to see if I can do this, so wish me luck.  In the future I will make an update page on how I’m doing, so keep ypur eyes open for it.

life, death, its nature.

March 7, 2009

Hello people of … well, wherever you are reading this from, I know I haven’t posted in a while so here it is.  These past two weeks have been hard, many people I know have passed on, The way I see it, death is God’s way of reminding us that life is too shore to sulk.  Basically, live your life, you can’t just be sad all of  the time, enjoy yourself, love one another, and most importantly, follow your dreams, the only things in this world that are impossible are the ones you think you can’t do.

different

January 27, 2009

Some times i feel like the trash of society, the one piece of the puzzle that does not fit, anywhere.  This feeling absolutely sucks, i know im different and i know i am not ‘normal’.  If you think about it there really is no such thing as normal, you just have to accept that everyone is themselves.  We all have a right to be us, no one can take that away from you.

today

January 16, 2009

many people live in fear of tomorrow, well i try not to be one of them.  A wise man once said that today is the tomorrow we feared yesterday and all is well.  This saying and many others has helped shape my life into what it is, i try to live for today, the past is gone the future is yet to come and the present is now.
golden rule: why do today what you can put off until tomorrow.  The golden response: what is today but yesterdays tommorow.

the war sucks

January 12, 2009

I am slightly confused, we heve somany people complaining about the war, whenever someone complains about it i look at them and ask “If you are so concerned about this war what exactly do you propose we do about it?” most of the time i get a blank look, but once a freind said “lets just nuke the country and get on with our lives”.  The reason im confused is, well have you ever heard of a peace keeping force, if their soo into peace than why do they have to use force?  And another reason I hate the war, im going to be an uncle in a few months, thats good right?  The babys father, my BROTHER, is going to be deployed in iraq about 1 month after his daughters birth.  And on top of that, he has one of the most dangerous jobs, you know those big guns you see being pulled behind a camo truck in parades? Well my brother does feild repairs on those guns.  So the government can fight this war, but for every gun thats made, every ship that is launched, every shot fired, and every bomb thatis dropped,  they are all tearing countless familys apart.

January 4, 2009

its a new year, i don’t usually make new year resalutions, but this year is different, id prefer to keep my resalution to my self but, if yor are gonna make one try writing it down on a peice of paper.  you should try to achive your goal, if you do you will prabably have a bit more self esteem.  You can always hope that someone else will complete your goal for you, but that probably won’t happen, if any one will do it, it has to be you.

- action speaks louder than words

I was riding the brand new four wheeler that my dad got us for christmas today, i hit a very loose spot of snow and got stuck.  The wheels kicked so much snow that i could see the grass underneath.  It took me about an hour to get it unstuck.  I learned two things from this, one thing was good and the other was rather random (than again this is me we are talking about, whats not random) the good thing was that i learned how to not get a four wheeler unstuck, and how to.  THe random one was that underneath about a foot and a half of snow, the grass was still green.
